e-Shram — National Database of Unorganised Workers

What is e-Shram?

e-Shram is a Central Government portal that issues a Universal Account Number (UAN) to workers in the unorganised sector — construction workers, domestic workers, street vendors, agricultural labourers, weavers, fishermen, and more. The card gives workers a national identity and links them to welfare schemes.

Who is Eligible?

Any worker aged 16–59 who works in the unorganised sector and is NOT a member of EPFO, ESIC, or NPS (Government). You must not be an income taxpayer. No proof of occupation required — you self-declare your work type.

Documents Required

• Aadhaar card (linked to mobile number)

• Bank account number and IFSC code

• Aadhaar-linked mobile number for OTP

How to Register

Visit eshram.gov.in, click 'Register on e-Shram', enter your Aadhaar-linked mobile number, verify with OTP, confirm your Aadhaar details, add bank account, select occupation type, and submit. Your 12-digit UAN card is generated instantly as a downloadable PDF.
