₹5 lakh per family per year — cashless treatment at empanelled hospitals
Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) is the world's largest government-funded health insurance scheme. It provides ₹5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary hospitalisation — including surgeries, chemotherapy, dialysis, ICU care, and 1,900+ procedures — at empanelled hospitals across India. In Tamil Nadu, it operates alongside CMCHIS.
The Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS) covers families with annual income below ₹72,000. Combined with PM-JAY, Tamil Nadu families get comprehensive cashless coverage at both government and private empanelled hospitals. No cap on family size.
Families listed in the SECC 2011 database (below poverty line) and those covered under the state CMCHIS income criteria (annual income below ₹72,000). Check eligibility at pmjay.gov.in using your name, HHD number, or ration card.
• Aadhaar card
• Ration card or income certificate (for CMCHIS)
• Existing PMJDY or bank account (for identification)
• Family photo (at the hospital enrollment point)
Check eligibility at pmjay.gov.in. Then visit an empanelled hospital with your Aadhaar card. The Ayushman Mitra at the hospital will verify your identity via biometric and issue your card on the spot — free of charge. The card covers your entire family.
