₹12,000/year scholarship to prevent dropout at secondary school level
National Means cum Merit Scholarship Scheme provides ₹12,000 per year (₹1,000/month) to meritorious students from economically weaker sections who study in government, government-aided, and local body schools at the secondary stage (Class 9–12). The purpose is to reduce dropout rates at Class 8–9 transition.
• ₹12,000/year (₹1,000/month) for Class 9 to Class 12
• Renewable every year on passing with at least 55% marks
• One lakh fresh scholarships awarded every year nationwide
• Directly credited to student's bank account
Students studying in Class 8 in a government or government-aided school whose family income is below ₹3.5 lakh per year. Must score at least 55% in Class 7 (50% for SC/ST). Selection is through a state-level NMMS examination.
• Aadhaar card
• Income certificate (below ₹3.5 lakh/year)
• Class 7 mark sheet
• School enrollment certificate
• Bank account in student's name
The state education department announces the NMMS examination (usually November). Apply through your school's headmaster. Appear for the state-level exam. Selected students apply on scholarships.gov.in for disbursal. Contact your school or the Seva Sankalp team for assistance.
