₹1.2 lakh – ₹2.5 lakh grant for constructing or upgrading your home
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana provides financial assistance for housing to the homeless, those living in kutcha (non-permanent) houses, and economically weaker section families. There are two components: PMAY-Urban (for cities) and PMAY-Gramin (for villages).
• PMAY-Gramin: ₹1.2 lakh in plain areas, ₹1.3 lakh in hilly/difficult terrain
• PMAY-Urban (Credit Linked Subsidy): interest subsidy of up to ₹2.67 lakh on home loans
• PM Awas Yojana 2.0 (Urban): one-time grant of ₹2.5 lakh for EWS/LIG families for new house construction or purchase
• Housing in beneficiary's name (or joint name with female member)
• Toilet, electricity, and water connections included
Families not owning a pucca (permanent) house anywhere in India. For urban: EWS (annual income up to ₹3 lakh), LIG (₹3–6 lakh), MIG-I (₹6–12 lakh), MIG-II (₹12–18 lakh) — each with different subsidy amounts. For rural: families listed in the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) data.
• Aadhaar card (all adult family members)
• Income certificate
• Bank account details
• Land ownership documents (for self-construction)
• Self-declaration of not owning a pucca house
• Ration card
For urban (PMAY-Urban): apply at pmaymis.gov.in or visit your city/town municipality (local body). For rural (PMAY-Gramin): eligible families are identified from SECC data — contact your Gram Panchayat or Block Development Officer.
