Free LPG gas connection with stove and first refill — for women below poverty line
Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana provides free LPG (cooking gas) connections to women from below poverty line (BPL) and other deprived households. The scheme aims to eliminate household air pollution from cooking with wood, dung, and kerosene — protecting the health of women and children.
• Free LPG connection — no security deposit
• Free stove and first cylinder for eligible beneficiaries under Ujjwala 2.0
• Refill subsidy via PAHAL scheme (amount credited to bank account)
• No health risks from indoor smoke
• Connection in woman's name — empowering female head of household
Women above 18 years from BPL households identified under SECC-2011, or belonging to SC/ST, PM Awas Yojana (Gramin) beneficiaries, Antyodaya Anna Yojana households, forest dwellers, tea and ex-tea garden tribe members, and migrants. The household should not already have an LPG connection.
• Aadhaar card
• BPL ration card or SECC-2011 inclusion proof
• Bank account details (for subsidy transfer)
• Self-declaration for address proof (for migrants)
• Passport-size photograph
Visit any LPG distributor (HP Gas, Bharat Gas, Indane) in your area and ask for a PM Ujjwala Yojana connection. Fill the KYC form and submit documents. The distributor verifies eligibility and installs the connection. You can also apply online at pmuy.gov.in.
